Fit City Day in the Park returns this year from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 29 at Fun Forest Park, 900 N. Glenwood Blvd. The event is hosted by Fit City Tyler, a network of community leaders and citizens charged with promoting healthy living in East Texas.

This is an opportunity to be physically active and get educated about health and fitness at one of the event’s vendor booths.
Run for Your Life 5K and a one-mile course begins the day filled with family-friendly activities. A costume contest is slated for later that morning. Entrants are allowed to enter the contest only if they have participated in the run/walk. Judges for the contest are Tyler councilmen Darryl Bowdre, Ed Moore and Don Warren.

A helicopter landing and take-off will be provided by Flight or Life at the baseball field next to the tennis court. A four-person inflatable joust and oversized sumo wrestling stations will be in front of the entrance of the pool.
Kids also can enjoy a 40-foot inflatable obstacle course. There will be free finger printing and child safety tips from Operation Kids Safe. Dewayne Blaq from 102.7/106.9 The Blaze will provide the music.
Free samples of healhty snacks and beverages will be available, as well as health education from vendors, and blood pressure screenings by Tyler Family Circle of Care.

Fit City Day in the Park is supported by the City of Tyler, the Smith County Medical Society, the Tyler Family Circle of Care and community sponsors of Fit City Tyler.
Online registration is still open for the 5K run/walk here. Enter the code “R4YL” to receive a $10 discount.
