Tyler Postmaster Falonda Woods

Empowerment Community Development Corporation will host a meet and greet reception for Tyler’s new Postmaster Falonda Woods at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Tyler Public Library, 201 S. College Ave. The free event is open to the public.
Woods began her career with the United States Post Office in 1999 in Port Arthur as a city letter carrier. She transferred to Little Rock, Arkansas as a mail processing clerk in 2005. Seeking upward mobility, she became the plant safety specialist in 2010. Her career progressed as she took on the daily challenges of customer service supervisor in North Little Rock Post Office in 2013.
Woods was promoted twice in 2014: On Jan. 3, to the station manager position in Rose City, Arkansas; then on Aug. 13, to manager of customer service in Austin. In October 2015, her hard work and dedication resulted in a promotion to area manager of customer service operations in Austin. Woods became the first African-American female to hold this position in Austin. In Oct. 2016, she was named the 41st postmaster of Tyler. She is the first woman to hold this title.
