Lunch will be served and parking is available to the ETMC Pavilion, 801 Clinic Drive. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.
High blood pressure or hypertension happens when the force of blood is too high against artery walls. More than three million cases are diagnosed in the United States each year and African Americans are disproportionately affected by this condition.
High blood pressure often has no symptoms, and therefore, may go undiagnosed and untreated. Left untreated, it can lead to other illnesses, such as heart disease and stroke.
The KnowledgeFirst forum is being presented with East Texas Giving Day. All ETMC hospitals are making Tuesday a “give back” day by offering free blood pressure checks and education on heart disease.
